Jeff Conine apparently has a career after baseball. What career is that? Coach? Manager? Business owner? Actually none of the above.

In his distinguished career, Jeff Conine has proven that he can play baseball at a high level. The 38-year-old has also shown that he has some rock star in him.

Conine is one of 11 Major League players featured on the “Oh Say Can You Sing?” CD, recently released by Good Sports Recordings.
On the CD, Conine performs his version of the Stone Temple Pilots’ hit “Plush.”...

MLB players try their hands at singing on new CD

They have combined for nearly 10,000 hits in their Major League careers.

Now they've combined for another one.

New on the shelves is "Oh Say Can You Sing?", a CD/DVD featuring 11 tracks performed by past and present Major Leaguers. It's not atop the Billboard charts, and if someone plays it on the local clubhouse boombox, the featured players may be razzed. But it's at the Shop for $17.99, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the players' favorite charities.

Here's the news flash: This isn't your average karaoke bar...

Their day jobs are as Major League Baseball players. But a lineup of 10 players and a Hall of Famer dabbled in the music industry for a day.

The Cincinnati Reds' Sean Casey, Tampa Bay Devil Rays' Aubrey Huff, Florida Marlins' Jeff Conine and Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith are among those who sing popular and original songs on a CD titled Oh Say Can You Sing? released May 10 on the Good Sports Recordings label...

The Padres were by and large excited for reliever Scott Linebrink, who contributed the music and singing to a well-produced cover of the Pat Green country hit "Wave on Wave" on the recently released Oh Say Can You Sing? CD and DVD of recordings by Major League ballplayers.

Linebrink, who is from the musical city of Austin, Texas, followed in the footsteps of his hero, Willie Nelson, and picked up guitar and singing as a youngster. He jams with teammate Jake Peavy and broadcaster Tim Flannery on the road and occasionally plays small "campfire" gigs, he said...
